Les Banquettes Escarpées Rasteau, 2016
A distinctly modern Rasteau; plush, rich, savory and warm.
65% Grenache Noir, 28% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre
|How it's made||
Sourced from vineyards on terraced escarpments (Les Banquettes Escarpées) on the same ridge as Cairanne in the southern Rhône, these south-facing slopes gained their own AC in 2010. The Syrah is from younger vines and adds freshness and elegance to the dark, spicy Grenache. Aged for 24 months in French oak barrels.
This is powerful, rich, oaky and brimming with black fruits underpinned by spice and expressive tannins before a savory, toasty characterful finish.
Slow roasted lamb shank, marinated venison casserole, pasta with wild boar ragu.
